Life isn't a story
Although we tend to think Everything-is-a-Story, life doesnt always follow narrative rules. Good people get punished, bad people get rewarded. We might never get the resolution we are after.
I’ve finally figured out the mistake I keep making: I expect my life to follow the rules of good narrative. Effects are supposed to have causes. The laws of the universe are supposed to be knowable and consistent. If something keeps coming up, it should be important.
Well, it ain’t like that.
