Show Dont Tell

This is one of those key bits of writing advice that is repeated often but is actually quite important. It’s the difference between ‘He was angry’ or ‘His fists clenched and he gritted his teeth.’ It allows you to give more Specific Detail and therefore be more vivid and expressive in your writing.

As with Concrete or abstract language, it’s a balance.

It’s a useful framework for Editing A Poem.
