A way to generate ideas, possibly the only way. If you are trying to come up with ideas, you should Read-Widely, Make-Marginalia then do something menial and routine, like washing up or going for a walk.
This way you engage both the Focused-Mode and Diffused-Mode of your brain, allowing the ideas to settle and reform.
